John Hoedemaker

Managing Director/ Head of Sales

Non-Executive Chairman, appointed 12 November 2007

John Hoedemaker is a founding Shareholder and Director of Gage Roads. Mr Hoedemaker has played a key role in developing the brewery from start up and achieving profitability by developing and implementing targeted growth and cost reduction strategies for the business. With an acute understanding of both the Company’s operational needs and financial requirements, Mr Hoedemaker is responsible for the strategic planning, leadership and management of the Company. Prior to his involvement with Gage Roads and Good Drinks, he co-owned and managed of a successful building products manufacturing business, Architectural & Structural Adhesives (WA), which he helped grow from a start-up operation through to a trade sale to a multinational conglomerate.

 

 

Marcel Brandenburg

Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary

Marcel Brandenburg joined the Company in October 2011 in the capacity of Financial Controller. He was appointed Chief Financial Officer on 30 June 2014. He has extensive experience in dealing with ASX-listed companies, having spent a significant part of his career auditing publicly listed entities. As a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Company Secretary, he has an excellent understanding of financial markets, market compliance and regulations. Mr Brandenburg has also previously held company secretarial roles in a number of unlisted companies.

 

 

 

Aaron Heary

Director Strategy, Brand and Hospitality/ Head of Marketing

Aaron Heary is a Gage Roads and Good Drinks original. Starting in 2004 as a brewer, Aaron quickly advanced to Head Brewer, before becoming General Manager of Operations in 2009. Five years later, Aaron was appointed Chief Operating/Chief Strategy Officer. In 2023, Aaron was appointed as an executive director, responsible for Strategy, Brand and Hospitality. Professionally brewing since 2000, Aaron has successfully navigated the world of brewing and business. Aaron holds a Diploma in Brewing from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling in London, while also receiving a Master of Business Administration from Curtin University.

Aaron is well respected within the brewing industry and as a qualified beer judge has been invited to adjudicate at the Australian International Beer Awards Melbourne, The Sydney Royal Beer and Cider Show, and the Perth Royal Beer Show. Aaron served as Vice-President of the West Australian Brewers Association between 2015 and 2018.

 

Phil McClintock

Chief Operating Officer

Phil McClintock started with Gage Roads and Good Drinks in 2013 as Financial Controller, before progressing to lead the Commercial and Supply Chain department, overseeing several key areas including procurement, warehouse, product dispatch, production costs and sales pricing. In 2023, Phil was appointed Chief Operating Officer, taking over the position from Aaron Heary who continues as the company’s Director of Strategy, Brand and Hospitality. Prior to his time with Good Drinks, Phil has held a number of roles across banking and mining for large multinational corporations, both in Australia and the UK. Phil is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Company Secretary and Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.

 

Matt Morisey

General Manager of Operations

Matt Morisey has been with Gage Roads and Good Drinks since 2010, with more than 18 years experience in the brewing industry.  Matt started with Fosters (CUB) at Matilda Bay across a number of Quality and Operations Management roles, followed by a stint at BGC as the Technical, Quality and Process Manager (2007).  Matt joined Gage Roads as the Quality Assurance and Safety Manager, and from 2013 was promoted to the GM Operations Manager’s role.  In his time with Gage Roads and Good Drinks, the operations team, brewery and systems have been further developed to deliver exceptional quality beer, safely and with a culture of innovation and consistency.  Matt works closely with other senior executives to deliver on the operational needs to meet the company’s strategies and objectives.  Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Chemistry and Biotechnology from Murdoch University and has completed part of the Diploma of Brewing from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling.  Matt has recently completed a Diploma of Leadership and Management.
